Turkcell Builds AI WAN–Oriented Intelligent IP Backbone Network
Apr 09, 2025
[Paris, France, March 24, 2025] At the MPLS & SRv6 AI Net World Congress 2025, during the IP GALA themed "AI WAN: Leading IP Networks into the Intelligent Era," Mehmet Durmus, Associate Director of IP/MPLS Core and Data Center Networks at Turkcell, delivered a speech titled "Building a Network for the Future."

In his speech, Durmus shared Turkcell's experience in building a flexible, secure, and scalable backbone network that features ultra-broadband, high reliability, and intelligence. To address the challenges posed by continuous traffic growth and business expansion, Turkcell has implemented a reliable backbone network architecture that supports multiple networks, including access, aggregation, and core networks, to carry all services. Given the numerous devices and services involved, multiple networking protocols are used for complex service management. Durmus emphasized the pivotal role of SRv6 in simplifying multiple complex network protocols. The company aims to build a fully automated and programmable end-to-end network in the future by leveraging SRv6 capabilities.
In the AI era, Turkcell is committed to building ultra-broadband, low-latency, high-reliability, and automated IP networks to provide differentiated services for customers. Turkcell highly recognizes AI WAN–oriented network construction. Moving forward, Turkcell will conduct innovation centered on energy saving, FHC-based fiber monitoring, AI application identification, and AI agents.
