Telecom Argentina Shares Insights into Network Evolution in the AI Era
Apr 01, 2025
[Paris, France, March 24, 2025] At the MPLS & SRv6 AI Net World Congress 2025, Santiago Costanzo, Transport Evolution Manager of Telecom Argentina, delivered a speech titled "Argentina TA Network Development Exploration Towards AI Era."
Telecom Argentina is facing pressing challenges: surging bearer network traffic (a 30% annual increase), deterministic latency demands from inter-regional banks and VIP private lines, and escalating O&M complexities. To address these issues, the carrier is eager to adopt cutting-edge technologies to boost efficiency.
At the congress, Telecom Argentina shared its experience in resolving these issues: (1) Replacing 100GE interfaces with 400GE interfaces at scale and utilizing high-density 400GE boards of next-gen chassis-shaped routers with an orthogonal architecture to handle massive amounts of traffic and support service growth. (2) Exploring SRv6 Policy–based deterministic latency and the use of network slicing to meet the latency and KPI requirements of different enterprises.

As AI technologies continue to advance, many innovative technologies have emerged. Telecom Argentina shared its objectives and exploration of AI technologies: O&M efficiency enhancement based on three AI agents, dynamic energy saving based on traffic prediction, and targeted port capacity expansion based on prediction. It has also explored how to leverage these technologies to enhance O&M efficiency, reduce energy costs, shorten the ROI period through targeted capacity expansion, and ultimately cut CAPEX and OPEX. This will drive business growth for the carrier and its customers.
As a leading carrier in Latin America and the largest carrier in Argentina, Telecom Argentina holds a third of the country's mobile market share. Dedicated to technological innovation, the carrier strives to improve user experience and meet customer needs. The MPLS & SRv6 AI Net World Congress 2025 brought together carriers, standards organizations, and industry organizations to discuss the latest trends in AI Network innovation.
