The UGW9811 is a Huawei proprietary unified packet gateway. It is intended for use in the Enhanced 3G (E3G) Long Term Evolution/Evolved Packet Core (LTE/EPC) network. The UGW9811 can function as a GGSN, an S-GW, a P-GW, or any combination of them but can be conveniently managed as a single unified gateway.
Support for multiple access modes, including General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), LTE, CDMA2000 High Rate Packet Data (HRPD), and Wi-Fi access.
By integrating the functions of the GGSN, S-GW, P-GW, trusted gateway (TGW), evolved packet data gateway (ePDG), HRPD serving gateway (HSGW), and packet data serving node (PDSN), the Huawei UGW9811 helps reduce operating expense (OPEX) and improves network deployment capabilities. These NE functions can be deployed on one or on multiple UGW9811s. When these NE functions are deployed on a single UGW9811, they share the UGW9811's hardware, cutting down UGW9811 deployment costs.
The Smart Bandwidth Management solution properly utilizes network resources and maximizes returns for carriers from their investments by enhancing user experience. It also provides carriers with business models that create more value, improving their comprehensive competitiveness.
In the content-oriented mobile Internet era, carriers are faced with the challenges of improper use of network resources and separation of investments and returns. How to effectively use network resources, ensure user experience, create new business models, and build a favorable business environment.
In addition to GPRS and UMTS access management, Smart Bandwidth Management provides strong LTE/EPC network management and non-3GPP access (such as CDMA, WiMAX, and Wi-Fi access) capabilities, as well as support for fixed mobile convergence (FMC). This solution has the following advantages
Network elements (NEs) in the control domain use the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) platform that has excellent computing performance. The ATCA platform ensures better performance and higher reliability for the SGSN9810 and USN9810. The gateway domain uses the packet gateway platform (PGP) that provides router functions. This ensures excellent performance of the GGSN9811 and UGW9811 in terms of throughput, forwarding, and reliability.< /p>
Based on the standardized policy and charging control (PCC) system architecture, this solution provides flexible bandwidth control policies and rules. This solution provides over 12 bandwidth control methods based on the application type, user class, quota, terminal type, location, and time. For example, it provides the fair usage policy (FUP), VIP treatment, and low-value service management.
Smart Bandwidth Management has been commercially deployed at over 60 sites worldwide. It helps carriers develop new business models, enhance their network competitiveness and manageability, and improve user experience. With this solution, carriers' comprehensive competitiveness is significantly enhanced.
